5 Reasons Why is Your Solar Fountain Pump Not Working

Unlike solar lamps, solar fountain pump will not run in cloudy weather. Many people have questions regarding fountains. I suggest buying a high-quality solar fountain with batteries that helps you run the system even at night. It is true, especially for commercial premises like inns, lodging, or restaurants. For a small garden, a smaller fountain (with an inbuilt panel) is enough for decoration.

However, what will you do when it does not run? In this article, I have discussed the reasons and solutions to this problem. Please read it to get the authentic information.

What is My Solar Fountain Pump Not Working?

A solar fountain has three parts: a solar panel, pump, and cord. Many products come with led lights and batteries. As solar fountains are a new product, customers do not know how to use this product. That is why they may often face problems, mainly with the pump.

There can be five reasons for the problem:

Check the Cord

Check whether it is connected with the solar panel and system appropriately. Do you use it with an on-grid power supply? If you are using solar fountains with on-grid AC current, I would suggest not using AC power because it leads to overheating.

Solar power and on-grid electricity are not the same. Moreover, the battery supplies DC power, but you are using AC power. As a result, it will decrease the lifespan of the product.

If it is the case, then the pump is not working due to overheating.

Check the Panel

If your floating solar fountain is not working, please check the panel if it is properly connected with this system. Check the photovoltaic cells of the panel whether it is cleaned or not. If it is covered with dust or trees, then it may not work efficiently, and it cannot generate the power needed to run the pump.

You should clean the obstacles. Still, if you are facing this issue, then please consult with an expert or replace it with a new panel which can be costly.

Place the Panel Properly

If it is a new product and it is not working properly, then you should check the solar panel whether it is getting direct sunlight or not. If you place the panel in the shade or beside a window, then it will not run. It needs direct sunlight.

Many solar products can be recharged using artificial LED lights or indecent bulbs, but this DIY solution cannot run a solar fountain because it needs more power.

Check the Battery of Solar Fountain Pump

Smaller solar fountains may not come with batteries. If you have a battery as a backup, you can use it when sunlight is not available. You have the option to decorate the fountain with LED lights. If you are using a solar fountain on a commercial property, then I would encourage you to invest in batteries so that you can use them even at night.

Check the Weather Outside

The panel uses sunlight to convert it into electricity that supplies power to the system. If the weather is cloudy, the solar panel may not work properly, and that is why it cannot generate power. Please check the weather outside, whether it is sunny or cloudy. If you live in the Northern areas, you should invest a few more bucks in buying a battery for the product.

Solution

If your solar fountain pump is not working, please check these issues and solve them manually. If you cannot do it, please consult with an electrician. He has better experience, knowledge, and skills to detect the issue properly and guide you to a better solution.
