How Many Batteries Do You Need for a 3000 Watt Inverter?

You have to buy three 200 ah batteries with 12-volt or 2 similar batteries with 24-volt.

You may need a 3 kW solar system in new residential and commercial premises. Experts consider a 50% depth of depletion rate (DOD Rate) because it is a waste of energy due to the transmission and other functionalities.

How Many Batteries Do You Need for a 3000-watt Solar System?

In India, Australia, USA, UK, Canada, and China, you can find a range of 100 ah to 1000ah batteries in the market. The 100ah batteries are more affordable than 1000ah batteries.

3000 watts means 3 kilowatts. If you buy a 500 ah battery with 12 volts, then you need only one battery for your system.

Indeed, it is not only the determining factor of the number of batteries. There are other factors too. Some of the major factors are-

Use a Solar Battery as Backup Power

Many residential and commercial property owners use solar and hydro energy as an alternative to regular coal energy. Indeed it is a great choice because it is a renewable source of eco-friendly energy, but you have to pay an upfront cost to install it. First, you have to determine whether you are using it as a backup source of energy or as an alternative source of regular electricity.

Here I am dividing this into two segments.

Solar Battery as a Power Backup

In my house, I use a solar inverter and batteries as a power backup during power outages and on-grid issues. For this, you do not need to invest a huge amount. You hardly need this system four hours a week. In that case, you can purchase an affordable battery of 500 ah max. For residential purposes, 150 ah to 200ah batteries are more common. You do not have to run the refrigerator, air cooler, or computer during these four hours in a week. You only have to run lights and fans. For this, a 3kW solar system is enough.

Solar Batteries as an Alternative Source of Energy

Many commercial buildings invest a huge amount for electricity. They think it is better to bear the high upfront cost for solar or hydro energy than spending for coal energy. If you are doing this, please consult with an expert to get an estimation of your investment and numbers.

You have to buy solar panels and solar batteries. The 200ah battery is not enough. In such cases, you have to run computers, air conditioners, and many other high-power-consuming electrical equipment in the building. Here you need a huge power backup to run the businesses. If you do not want to use solar energy for commercial premises, you can invest in hydro energy. Both of these are eco-friendly and save your money in the long term.

I hope I have answered your queries regarding the 3-Kilowatt solar system. One 500ah battery of 12 volt or three 200ah batteries is enough for your house. If you have any queries or want to know more about this, please comment down below.
