A garden with fountains gave me a glimpse of heaven when I was a child. As I grow old, I understand the working process of a fountain. I realize that solar fountains are a new product in the market, but the working process is similar. The main difference is the power source. Electric fountains use on-grid electricity, whereas solar fountains use solar panels to generate energy.

How to Install Solar Powered Fountain?

In this article, I am going to give you a step-by-step process for installing panels in your garden. I have a fountain in my garden, and I applied this process to set up my fountain.

Tools You Need for a Solar Fountain Installation

  • Lower I beam
  • Higher I beam
  • C Channels
  • Solar Panels
  • Solar Fountain
  • Cords or wires
  • Anti Corrosion paint
  • Concrete mixture
  • screwdrivers
  • Drilling machine
  • wire cutter
  • Multimeter

Step 1: Find out the Optimum Solar Angle

You may have heard the phrase for the first time. Solar angle is nothing but the perfect angle where the solar panel gets the maximum sunlight. If you have a mini fountain, it comes with an inbuilt solar panel.

However, you have to understand the solar angle when you have to install remote solar panels. You can take the help of an expert to install them.

If you have a long fountain with remote panels, it is easier to install because you can place a fountain under a shade, but you can place the solar panels under direct sunlight. It also depends on the length of the cords.

While finding the perfect angle, do not forget to paint I beams with the anti-rust paint because it may usually get rains and water spillage. Focus on the metal framework on which the solar panel is installed.

If you install a solar panel on top of a shelter or roof, the installation process will be different, but if you are installing it on the ground, follow step 2.

Step 2: Place the I-Beam

Placing a solar panel needs expertise and experience. You have to set up a foundation for this system.

  • Dig a 2ft-2ft hole in the ground
  • Put one I beam into the hole.
  • Fill the hole with concrete
  • Install another I beam at 20 feet distance, but it may vary depending on the size of the solar panel.

Step 3: Add Channels on the Beams

After installing I beams, add the c channel parallel to the ground. The number of I beams and C channels may vary depending on the number of solar panels. However, the installation process will be the same. Now attach the c channel with I beams. Please use stainless steel nuts and bolts for effective installation.

I understand the process may looks complex, but trust me, it is easy! For the first time, you need to watch some YouTube videos and read the post twice before conducting the steps.

Step 4: Place the Solar Panel

While setting the beams, you have to place smaller beams in front of the higher beams to create an angle for the solar panel. The angle should be calculated using the best solar angle of the place.

Please attach all the parts with the steel nuts and bolt. Now you have to analyze the polarity of the solar panel using a multimeter. Generally, one solar panel is not enough, so you have to prepare a string of panels using multiple solar cells.

Step 5: Connect Panel with the Fountain

If you lack the expertise, consult a local expert to connect the two systems. You can read the pump manual for detailed guidelines. You need to find out the output of the solar panels with the input of the fountain.

I hope this article will solve all your problems related to solar fountain installation. This detailed process helps you to install solar panels in your garden. Still, if you need more details or have some queries, please comment below.
